Biography

Marco Boerries has global responsibility for all aspects of Yahoo!’s Connected Life Division which focuses on connecting people to their passions, their communities and the world’s knowledge – anywhere, any time, on any device. The group encompasses the company’s mobile, digital home, PC client and broadband teams around the world, including Yahoo!’s revolutionary Yahoo! Go for Mobile 2.0 and Yahoo! oneSearch products for mobile. Marco is an established industry leader with a compelling vision for enabling digital mobility across mobile, the digital home, PC desktop and broadband industries.

Marco joined Yahoo! in 2005 with the acquisition of VerdiSoft. He founded the company in August 2001 to pursue his vision of enabling Digital Mobility across the mobile, broadband and home networking markets. Prior to founding VerdiSoft, Marco worked at Sun Microsystems as the Vice President and General Manager of Webtop and Application Software. In this role, Marco drove the development of the Solaris Common Desktop Environment, Netscape for Solaris and OpenOffice.org. As the de facto open source ambassador for Sun, Marco was instrumental in introducing the GNOME project – a free and facile desktop environment for the end-user, and a powerful application framework for the developer.

Marco is also the creator of the popular StarOffice Suite. He founded Star Division at the age of 16, dropping out of high school to pursue his vision of creating an alternative to Microsoft software. Marco sold StarOffice to Sun Microsystems in August 1999.

Bruce Stewart

Biography

Bruce Stewart is currently the Vice President and General Manager for Connected Life Americas with Yahoo! Inc., based at the company headquarters in Sunnyvale, CA. Bruce is responsible for a team in the Connected Life group that leads all strategic and business development activities in the Americas for Yahoo!’s broadband, mobile/wireless, digital home and PC desktop application businesses and partnerships. Prior to joining Yahoo!, Bruce served as Vice President and Senior Vice President with America Online, Inc. based in Dulles, Virginia, outside Washington DC, and was responsible for all strategic and business development activities for the AOL low cost Access Group. Prior to this role, Bruce was SVP & General Manager of the AOL Strategic Business Solutions unit. He joined AOL in April of 2002.

Prior to joining AOL, Bruce served as the Executive Vice President, International, and the Managing Director of both Exodus Europe and Exodus Asia Pacific for Exodus Communications, Inc., as well as President and Director of its international subsidiaries. Prior to the acquisition of Globalcenter Inc. by Exodus Communications, Inc. in January 2001 for $3 billion, he served as Executive Vice President of International and Corporate Development for Globalcenter Inc., a subsidiary of Global Crossing, Inc.

From January 1993 until January 2000, Bruce served as Partner, Vice President & General Counsel and Executive Director of Communications with InterMedia Partners, then the United States' ninth largest broadband cable system operator and providing advanced cable communications services, high-speed Internet access and digital entertainment services. InterMedia Partners was sold in late 1999 to AT&T Broadband, Charter Communications & Insight Communications.

From early 1991 to January 1993, Bruce served as legal counsel for Scholastic Productions, Inc., a subsidiary of Scholastic, Inc. based in New York, which develops, produces and distributes family programming to the network television, cable, feature film and home video markets, and manages a licensing and merchandising business.

Bruce received a B.A. degree from Holy Cross College in 1986 and a J.D. from Case Western Reserve University Law School in 1990. He currently lives with his wife and family near Washington, DC in Potomac, Maryland.

David Ko

Biography

David Ko is vice president and general manager for Yahoo!’s Connected Life business across Asia. Based in Singapore, he is responsible for extending Yahoo!’s mobile products, broadband services, digital home initiatives and PC client experiences. David also oversees the deployment and distribution of Yahoo! oneSearch, Yahoo! Go suite of services and mobile advertising across the Asia Pacific region.

Since joining Yahoo! in April 2000, David has been a leader in driving the company’s mobile business and managing key partnerships with vendors, device manufactures and operators including AT&T, Globe Telecom, Helio, Motorola, RIM, Rogers, Sprint, Taiwan Mobile, Verizon, and others.

In his previous role at Yahoo!, David was senior director of global mobile and was responsible for developing and implementing Yahoo!’s worldwide mobile strategy. He was a key contributor to the distribution strategy for Yahoo! products and services including: Yahoo! Mobile Web, Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! Mobile Search, Yahoo! Messenger, Yahoo! Games and Yahoo! Photos. Before joining the mobile team, David was the senior director for consumer services at Yahoo!, where he was responsible for developing a distribution strategy for Yahoo! premium services.

Prior to joining Yahoo!, David served as a senior associate for Equity Capital Markets at Salomon Smith Barney, where he was responsible for identifying, executing and closing deals in the technology, media and telecommunications sectors. Before joining the Equity Capital Markets group, he was a financial analyst for the Investment Banking Division in Global Energy.

David is a graduate of New York University, Stern School of Business.
